Guess who’ll be at the Young Writers Festival this weekend? All In! Young Writers Media Festival 2012 organised by the National Book Development Council of Singapore (NBDCS) and supported by the National Arts Council (NAC) will be held on 18-19 February 2012 at Rendezvous Hotel, Bras Basah. What is the future for young writers? Is there hope in a publishing career? What capabilities must any writer have to develop his / her writing career? What are the platforms changing the future of publishing and storytelling? These are just some of the questions the festival will try to answer and explore this weekend. The two-day event boasts various sessions on social media, ebook publishing and ebook stores, writing, transmedia and much, much more! The programme has been specially organised with you in mind. So if you’re an aspiring writer, publisher, media officer, teacher, student or bibliophile, you better head down to Bras Basah. Check out Tusitala’s very own tech guru, Saad Chinoy talk about “How to Get Content Published as an eBook”. Here’s a quick look at his topic.

Why publish an eBook instead? What is the thought process of writing an eBook (content development)? What are the procedures involved in digitizing a book? What happens after you publish your eBook? In this session, you will learn how to get your eBooks sold on major stores like Amazon, iBooks and Kobo. But knowing how to publish your content as an eBook is only the beginning. When the eBook is done, what’s next for you as a writer? How would your eBook get the publicity and buzz that you desire? You will need to have a social strategy for yourself as the author as well as for your eBook. During the session we will explore some ideas on how to make use of social platforms to give you the fans that you want, discuss on the different ways to market your eBook and much more.

The session will be co-presented by Woon Chet Choon. Do swing by if you are free this weekend and want to know more about publishing in Singapore. Are you excited already? We

definitely are! Two local politicians, Nicole Seah from the National Solidarity Party and Yee Jenn Jong from the Workers’ Party will also be speaking at the event.
